Typical ‘Dutch gable’ facades in Schiedam near Rotterdam. It’s interesting to see how the houses seem to be squeezed in by the adjacent buildings. Also notice how the roofs behind the gable show that the orientation of the houses is skewed. The style and scale indicates an originally residential purpose although the large door in the middle suggests otherwise. I wouldn’t be surprised if this picture would show buildings from centuries 17th until 20th. Styles and eras colliding.
