eames shell

Detail of the famous Eames side chair. Of course this is a fibre glass version instead of the lifeless plastic ones produced by Vitra these days. This one was manufactured by Herman Miller. The different bases and the shell are so different in material and formal language that it makes you wonder how they work so well together. Especially the stackable frame (DSS) and the so called ‘eiffel frame’ (DSR). The walnut wooden frame (DSW) seems to be working best esthetically.
