this is a snapshot blog of:

van lieshout

This sculpture is part of an exhibition of Dutch artist Joep van Lieshout. The exhibition is situated in a former submarine dock in the port of Rotterdam. A gigantic hangar in which the comprehensive collection tells us stories about the future. A future in which, according to van Lieshout, basic commodities are getting scarce and this scarcity will lead to armed conflicts and human exploitation. A parallel scenario is a future of recycling and van Lieshout takes this recycling to the max: Not only products but also animals and humans are not only reused but also part of an reciprocitive system of production and consumption. All presented very figuratively and cartoon-like.
