Modernist quarter designed by architect J.J.P. Oud in the southern part of the city of Rotterdam. It was built in the late twenties of the twentieth century as a social housing project. Nowadays it does not look very astonishing but at the time it was revolutionary due to the modernist urban planning and layout of the houses. The Union Internationale de Architectes placed it on the list of the thousand most important buildings of the twentieth century.
