this is a snapshot blog of:

la geria

Typical lava vineyards on the Canary island of Lanzarote. Each branch is grown in a funnel-shaped hollow which is protected from the winds by a low stone wall. The hollows are surfaced with lapilli (lava grit) on which air moist condensates. Amazing how this tradition took root in a place where it hardly rains and where there are no fresh water resources.
