Bridgehead

The bridge keeper’s house is a remnant of the old Willemsbrug (Williams Bridge) in Rotterdam. It was replaced by the new Willemsbrug in 1981 some 100 meters east. The original was built in 1878 but this shed was added in 1927. Until the opening of the Maastunnel in 1942 it was basically the only river crossing in the area.
