Yellow table
Again two yellow VOLT tables have been made, one for a client in Belgium and one for a client in Switzerland. The tables were customized in terms of dimensions: One table is 230 x 95 cm and the other 150 x 100 cm.

Stainless steel table
Some time ago I have designed this dining table for an initiative named DIM (Design in Metal). These people are great with metal and decided to start up a furniture line. The table was inspired by my VOLT table or rather a more straightforward alternative. It has stainless steel frame and legs and for the top one can choose between glass or granite which is sunken below the edge of the frame. Unfortunately things have been a little quiet lately at DIM but hopefully they will pick up in 2013. Of course it can also be ordered here.

Enige tijd geleden heb ik deze eettafel ontworpen voor een initiatief genaamd DIM (Design in Metaal). Deze mensen zijn heel goed met metaal en besloten een meubellijn op te zetten. Deze tafel is geïnspireerd op mijn VOLT tafel. Het heeft een frame en gefaceteerde poten van rvs en voo rhet blad kan men kiezen tussen (gekleurd) glas of graniet. Helaas is het een beetje stil geweest bij DIM de laatste tijd maar hopelijk komt er meer in 2013. Intussen kan de tafel gewoon hier besteld worden.

Making of VOLT tables
Two VOLT tables ready to get painted. A special primer foil has been applied to each surface of the table to get it ready for the paintwork. Both of them will be yellow and sent to a client in Rome.

Table in Amsterdam
Another VOLT table we recently delivered at a client’s house in Amsterdam. Although it is available in any colour and a white and orange-red will are wonderful as well, most orders are for a yellow one. This particular one functions as a worktop with a view over the water.

Weer een VOLT tafel die we recent geleverd hebben aan een klant thuis in Amsterdam. Hoewel de tafel verkrijgbaar is in elke kleur en een witte en rood-oranje ook heel mooi zijn, kiezen de meesten toch voor geel. Deze doet ter plekke dienst als werktafel met zicht over het water.

Side tables
Vintage nesting tables on a wool rug at a friends place. The ‘Isocele’ tables are made of steel rod and glass and were designed by Max Sauze in 1970. The rug has a nice rough texture and is available at the Kwantum.

Vintage bijzettafels op een wollen kleed bij een vriend thuis. De Isocele tafels zijn gemaakt van stalen rondstaf en glas en zijn ontworpen door Max Sauze in 1970. Het kleed heeft een mooie ruwe textuur en is verkrijgbaar bij de Kwantum.

Lamp Furniture
Furniture project by Belgian designstudio Muller van Severen. The chairs and the table have an attached lamp which seems to be a rational continuation of the exisiting form language. I saw this set at the Object Rotterdam fair recently.

Wooden Table
This is a solid wooden table I once made. It is an interesting structure of four identical T-shaped parts. The idea came from my ongoing research of how to construct a table with a top with legs that work together, that really connect both structurally and visually. My VOLT table is an advanced result of this search. The T-shaped parts are positioned alternately and are held together by steel all-threads. This prototype was made from pine wood whereas a next version would be made of oak wood and dimensioned slightly slimmer.

Dit is een massief houten tafel die ik ooit ontworpen en gemaakt heb. Het is een interessante constructie die bestaat uit vier identieke T-vormige onderdelen die zowel blad als poot zijn. Het idee kwam voort uit mijn onderzoek naar een tafel waarbij blad en poten zowel constrcutief als visuaal samensmelten. Mijn VOLT tafel is een later resultaat van deze zoektocht. De T-vormige onderdelen kun je om en om zetten en koppelen met draadeind. Dit prototype is gemaakt van naaldhout, maar een volgende versie zou van bijvoorbeeld eikenhouten worden met iets dunnere blad en poten.

VOLT table interior
The picture of my VOLT table is finished. It was taken during a photoshoot in a marvelous villa in Hook of Holland designed by architecture firm Zandbelt & van den Berg. The concrete background and the primary colours work really well. The picture was taken by Rotterdam photographer Peter van Dijk.
De foto van mijn VOLT tafel is klaar. Hij is genomen tijdens een fotosessie in een prachtige villa in Hoek van Holland ontworpen door architectenbureau Zandbelt & van den Berg. De betonnen achtergrond en de primaire kleuren werken er goed samen. De foto is genomen door de Rotterdamse fotogaaf Peter van Dijk.
Table at Living Event
Last friday I went to Amsterdam to have a look at my VOLT table at the ‘Woonbeurs’ (Living Event). It was used in the fair pavilion of ‘Eigen Huis & Interieur’ (Own House & Intorior), the largest Dutch consumer oriented magazine on interiors and design.
Afgelopen vrijdag ben ik even naar de Woonbeurs in Amsterdam geweest om mijn VOLT tafel te bekijken. Het is gebruikt in het beurspaviljoen van Eigen Huis & Interieur, de grootste Nederlandse consumententijdschrift op het gebied van interieur en design.
Coffee pot
Last Thursday I did another photoshoot with photographer Peter van Dijk of my VOLT table, this time with a neutral studio background. To add a little bit of realism to the otherwise abstract table I put a nice coffee pot on top and a simple wooden chair. This is a snapshot preview but the professional images will be ready within a few weeks.
Vanmorgen heb ik opnieuw een fotosessie gedaan met fotograaf Peter van Dijk van mijn VOLT tafel, deze keer met een neutrale studio achtergrond. Om een beetje realisme toe te voegen aan de best wel abstract tafel heb ik er een mooie koffiekan opgezet en een eenvoudige houten stoel aangeschoven. Dit is slechts een snapshot voorbeeld maar over een paar weken zijn de professionele afbeeldingen op hoge resolutie beschikbaar.
VOLT table with chairs
This is another snapshot of my VOLT table during a photoshoot recently. The table has faceted surfaces which make it hard to grasp how it is made up. The chairs are vintage Pagholz chairs and fit really well to the table. The chairs don’t only look great, they can both be stacked and connected to one another. The legs are made of U shaped steel profiles and the left ones are slightly wider than the right ones so the right leg of one chair fits within the left leg of the other chair.
Dit is een andere snapshot van mijn VOLT tafel tijdens een recent fotosessie. De tafel heeft gefacteerde oppervlakten die maken dat het moeilijk te vatten is hoe de vorm is. De stoelen zijn vintage Pagholz / Thur-op-Seat stoelen en ze passen heel mooi bij de tafel. Ze zien er niet alleen te gek uit ze zijn zowel stapelbaar als schakelbaar. De poten zijn gemaakt van U-vormige stalen profielen. De linker iets wijder is dan de rechter waardoor ze in elkaar passen.

Studio Dapper
PLET table and KEER chair in the shop window of Studio Dapper in historic Delfshaven. Studio Dapper is run by Roelant ten Kate and works in the field of both architecture and product design. I have teamed up with Roelant for the open door days of historic Delfshaven to create a temporary exhibition. The products will now move on to the Open door days of Creatief Delfshaven next weekend which encompasses enterpreneurs from the whole municipality of Delfshaven.
PLET tafel en KEER stoel in de etalage van Studio Dapper in historisch Delfshaven. Studio Dapper wordt geleid door Roelant ten Kate en is actief op het gebied van zowel architectuur als vormgeving. Roelant en ik hebben samen een expositie gemaakt in het kader van de open dagen van Historisch Delfshaven. De producten zullen nu geëxposeerd gaan worden tijdens de open dagen van Creatief Delfshaven komend weekend, dat het werk van ondernemers uit de hele deelgemeente omvat.
VOLT at Woonbeurs
My VOLT table in the VIP room at the Woonbeurs (Living Event), the largest consumer design fair in the Netherlands. It takes place from 25 September until 3 October at the RAI fairgrounds in Amsterdam.

This picture of sustainable table called PLET pretty much sums up its different tactile qualities: The exquisite texture of the different strips of reclaimed acrylic, the smooth, polished surface, the wonderful reclaimed oak wood texture and the nice joint details.
Deze foto van duurzame tafel genaamd PLET laat de verschillende tactiele kwaliteiten zien: De schitterende textuur van verschillende stroken, hergebruikt perspex, het gladde, gepolijste oppervlak, de prachtige eikenhouten textuur en de mooie verbinding details.

Another picture just because it’s such a beautiful and yes, very sustainable table: PLET. Great to see how the light causes the white strips to turn dark at the side and how it shines through the glass onto the top of the wooden base.
Nog een foto van PLET omdat het zo’n mooie salontafel is en jawel, heel duurzaam! Prachtig hoe het licht de witte stroken donker maakt aan de zijkant en hoe het door het plexiglas schijnt op het houten onderstel.
